If this little fellow looks familiar, that’s because he originally featured in one of my In the Style of… posts (click here to see it). The photograph is a bit of a favourite and so I thought I’d see how he looked in a different medium. Even though the background didn’t go quite as planned, I’m pretty happy with how the sparrow turned out.

“It was amazing what an hour with her sketchpad could do for her mood. She was sure that the lines she drew with her black marker were going to save her years of worry lines in the future.” Victoria Kahler, Their Friend Scarlet

My seagull is now for sale

Seagull, June 2014
Seagull — acrylic on canvas, 205 x 255 mm, 2014. Sold.

This little seagull is now for sale has now sold on Etsy. I took some more photographs and I’m a lot happier with the colours this time around (click here to see my original post).

I’m thinking of making this a series with different background colours and canvas sizes ― but there are so many other painting projects waiting in the wings (so to speak), it may be a while before the next seagull gets off the ground (sorry, I really need to get out more).

Mount Grey

This morning’s offering is not my usual Shoot it, Sketch it because I didn’t take the photograph that inspired the painting (which is why I haven’t posted it) ― I did, of course, obtain permission to use the photo for the commission. And as much as I love mountains, this time it’s all about the trig station!
