New Year’s Resolution

original haiku and colourful digital abstract art: "My resolution / Here, now, is to be myself / And let you be you."

There’s always so much going on… so much to see and do. The demands for my attention seem to grow exponentially with every passing year. Meanwhile I’m working on several new songs, two old paintings, and the posts in my WordPress Reader are starting to pile up again. Somehow “everyone else” seems to be getting out there and doing more, achieving more, being more. But perception is a funny thing and is not to be trusted. NOT to be trusted. So I’m keeping my goal simple this year ~ not that I have ever been one for making new year’s resolutions ~ but the word found itself, quite unbidden, into my first haiku of 2023 and I ran with it. Here’s to an excellent year of doing the one thing we can all do better than anyone else ~ as it says in the song, why don’t you be you and I’ll be me?

Welcome the Twenties

I’m really not one for New Year’s resolutions but given that this year is a bit of a big deal (and I love the sound of living in the Twenties), I have written down a few New Year’s intentions ~ the sorts of things I want to focus on and how I want to fill my days, encouraging me to find and create “more faith, more health, more art, more music, more… ” 🏡

The image above is an old one that I’ve edited slightly ~ originally created in Bryce almost 20 years ago (2002). It suits my current mood.

A new year drifts in,
Bright with possibilities;
Welcome the Twenties.

Another year over…

This small canvas was my last commission of 2015 ~ and it was a wonderful way to end the year. When I was asked to paint this version of my little stick figure illustration, I had no idea how it would look (given that the original figures were ink drawings on paper). I needn’t have worried. This painting now has pride of place on my new Commissions page.

Wishing everyone a happy and creative 2016 : )
