I’m not sure how much I’ll be posting on WordPress over the next few weeks…
James (husband, best friend, bandmate etc.) and I have a regular gig now, playing covers at a local bar & eatery, and so I’m taking a bit of time out to update our website, social media, set lists and such. It’s very exciting and definitely comes under “careful what you wish for”. We haven’t ‘gigged’ seriously for three years ~ apart from open mics and house parties ~ and now suddenly we will be playing every weekend. Eeep! We played our first gig at Lu Lu’s a couple of weeks ago and had an absolute blast!
It just goes to show that you’re never too old to have a dream come true! : )
P.S. Yes, art will still be happening… once I get my head around the music side of things. In fact I had a bit of fun stencilling our name on to a road case…

Drawing Lessons
Way back in December 2009, I reinvented myself and became an artist. It has taken quite a bit of practice to be able to say that without giggling or feeling self-conscious. Some days I revert to describing myself as a painter or a graphic designer, but the good days find me happy to tell it like it is. I still remember discovering Danny Gregory’s book The Creative License: Giving yourself permission to be the artist you truly are ~ I bought a journal and a nice black ink pen and have never looked back. Well, obviously I’m looking back now… but you know what I mean.
A DECADE has now passed since that first illustrated journal and so I’ve decided to put together some quote+art images inspired by the rather good ‘All I Really Need to Know I Learned From Drawing’ list written by Danny Gregory. ✍🏼✍🏼✍🏼

Unplugged
In my last post, I mentioned my plan to make good use of the body of work I have accumulated as a result last year’s six-word story challenge. I painted my first six-word painting a little over a month ago. Here is the second: She unplugged and instantly felt better. True story : )
The Collected Works
My Top Nine six-word stories ~ my favourites selected from a grand total of 134 word+art posts created last year for Instagram which, in turn, came from 365 stories created using the Page Flutter word prompts. For those who may be interested, I’ve gathered all of my word+art stories into a collection on Pinterest.
What a fantastic and rewarding challenge this has been! And even though I won’t be carrying on with a daily writing challenge in 2019, I do plan to make good use of my six-word stories. But more about that in my next post : )
