This week’s Shoot it, Sketch it painting is an abstract inspired by the reflections in the crystal clear waters of Hamurana Springs. If you’re ever anywhere near Lake Rotorua in New Zealand, this magical spot is nearby and well worth a visit. It’s the largest headspring in the North Island and is an impressive 15 metres deep (15 metres!). If you want to know more, click on this Envirohistory NZ link.
The painting is still a work in progress. I hope to have it finished next week…
Beautiful Anna! It actually looks like it could be oils with big thick strokes. Love it
Thanks, Bec. That’s exactly the effect I’m going for : )
the only thing you’re not capturing is the smell! 🙂
It smells just fine — it’s not THAT close to Rotorua : )
I LOVE it! Beautiful work!
Oh I really like this Anna ! Love those flat side brush strokes – if thats what one might call them -;-) and how you make dizzying water movement on your canvas …
Incredible! This may be one of my fav’s of yours.
Thanks. Mine too. I thought long and hard before continuing with this one. I’m now at the stage where I wish I had left it alone… so now I need to persevere and ‘rescue’ it. If all goes well, I’ll post it next week : )
Looking forward to seeing how it turns out – looking great already.
