I’m so thrilled to have a workbench I can stand at to draw and paint — it is SO MUCH BETTER than sitting at a desk all day. It is perfect for me and I love it. Goodbye horrid old computer desk that didn’t even have enough room for an A3 sheet of paper. Hello beautiful (and, let’s face it, unashamedly sexy) oak workbench with cupboards and drawers and lots of space. What a great way to start the new year.
The sketch was done with a dip pen and ink. I’m afraid some abuse of the pen was necessary to get those scratchy textures — but it has survived to dip another day. The watercolour ‘tree’ was painted on a separate piece of paper and added in Photoshop.

What a lovely aspect when you are working -enjoy your new desk.
Although the tree is only covered in pink for a few weeks of the year, the view is always as pretty as a picture ; )
Awesome work again Anna 🙂 I love just those 2 colours you used.
Beautiful, I love the splash of colour 🙂
love it and way to go, a beautiful piece of nature to create on.x
Hi Anna That’s super with a shot of PinkyPlum ! never tried a dip pen .
What a nice start to the NY with organised space to work and such a nice view 🙂
Not something I’ll be sketching for awhile -if ever !
Envious of that new work space! Enjoy!
Anna the detail you put in your work is amazing, I am in awe!
Love your sketches…very nice.
Awesome work Anna! Isnt it just the best feeling having your own art space that you LOVE being in?!
A big, heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone for your lovely comments : )
Creating this ‘work’ space has been a long time coming (some of you will know just how long!). If you’re not absolutely IN LOVE with your studio/art room/spare bedroom/cave, I recommend doing whatever you can to make it the best it can possibly be — take away stuff, add stuff, change stuff — make it work for you. Now if I could just sort out the rest of the house/property!
Great advice about the workspace! I may have to look into a standing arrangement…I honestly never thought about it! Glad you have found your happy place and I’m enjoying what’s coming out of it, for sure!
¡Qué lugar de trabajo tan agradable¡
Esa vista seguro que te inspirará muchas nuevas obras de arte.
I love the new desk. Is it an antique? What a beautiful view you have too!
No, it’s not an antique, but it does have that kind of vibe, doesn’t it? And as for the view… let’s just say that it’s a nice view from the right angle ; )
