I painted this little Beatles record as a test for my new Golden satin varnish — I’m preparing to varnish the Peonies triptych and I read somewhere that dark colours can appear cloudy under satin or matte varnish if not applied correctly. So I bought a cheap stretched canvas and had a bit of fun.
I now have a page on Facebook: Anna Cull – Art. To mark the occasion, I’ve updated my avatar (I tweaked a few things and added an acrylic background). The next step will be selling my art on Etsy… but I’m not quite ready for that sort of commitment.
Poppytump has asked for a closer look at the woodcut print that made an appearance in my previous post … so here it is.
I wanted to post something a bit different for the holidays and this came to mind. It’s a printing project from an art course I did a few years ago. We had to make a series of monoprints to represent our past, present and future. I really could’ve used an extra week to get to grips with the materials and techniques. Still, I enjoyed the challenge… and there’s something about the Today print that I really like.
For those who are curious, Yesterday (a stormy sea) is a woodcut print, Today (a sunrise) was made using a light-field method and Tomorrow (clouds with a silver lining) was made using a dark-field method.

Today is my blog’s first anniversary. Yes, it’s been a whole year since my first post. A little retrospective seems in order.
